Bowron-Trip-56I sent the second draft to my editor for an annotation at the end of April (he’d be checking commas and grammar, etc.). Knowing this would take 2-3 weeks I joined an online Authors Group to do some promo work while I waited. The group is based in Ireland and has members from all over the world. Why I picked that group was because of recommendations. Their advice is largely catered to you, what you specifically need to do to promote yourself.

Well, let me tell you, this is a very proactive group of people. I’ve never been so busy in my life! There are half a million members, some have a publisher and some are self-published. You’re asked to write a blog about your book once a month and supply a picture related to it (which I’m already doing) here. Members will read your book and write a review (good or bad) and put it on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and on Goodreads. All you can hope for is that it’s a good review.

I’ve been lucky so far, getting great reviews, and yesterday I received an especially amazing one from the Belgian novelist Bob Van Laerhoven, a winner of the Hercule Poirot Prize for Best Crime Novel, and winner of the USA Best Book Award 2014 for his mystery novel “Baudelaire’s Revenge.” He wrote me a very encouraging letter and said he wants to read my next book. Oh boy! (The photo above is from Bowron Lake.)

Here’s his review if you want to read it: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3QU4PYCI6J1YY/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00E258FHY
